Arsenal have been knocked out of the Champions League as they lost 1-0 to Bayern Munich on a heartbreaking night in Germany.
Joshua Kimmich's header after 63 minutes proved the difference as he escaped from his marker to make it 3-2 on aggregate.
Arsenal had their opportunities, Gabriel Martinelli, Gabriel Jesus, and Martin Odegaard all having good chances, but they lacked the cutting edge needed as their European dream came to an end in Munich.
The Germans came out out firing in the second half and hit the woodwork twice in quick succession, first through Leon Goretzka and then via Raphael Guerrero, before Kimmich sealed the deal.
Arsenal had hoped to reach the Champions League semi-finals for the first time since 2009 but their hoodo against Bayern continues - even if they had the passionate support of their wives and girlfriends.

Arsenal's stars were accompanied by their wives and girlfriends on the trip. Laura, Leandro Trossard's wife, shared a photo of her, Kai Havertz’s fiancee Sophia Weber, Martin Odegaard's partner Helen Spilling, and Ben White’s wife Milly wearing their Arsenal kits ahead of the game.
Victory would have been extra sweet for Harry Kane, the former Spurs captain who made a £100m move to Munich last summer.

AdvertisementKane, who scored a penalty in the first leg, told TNT after the match: 'It's been a tough season for us. We've had to fight and really grind at times, and today was that.
'We knew it would be a tough game but we knew our fans could make the difference. To reach the semi-final is a great achievement for us and we can enjoy this one.'
Former Arsenal defender and Mail Sport contributor Martin Keown questioned the mentality of Arteta's men following the defeat.
'It comes down to fine margins,' Keown said on TNT's coverage.
'Only one goal between the two teams but I just feel that Arsenal never really gave a proper account of themselves.
'It is when it matters most that we don't seem to be able to deliver.'
Arsenal were clearly frustrated towards the end of the second leg and footage emerged of Odegaard incensed at the decision not to award his side a late corner.
Odegaard was seen angrily shouting at both the referee and his assistant after his shot took two deflections before going behind, but a goal kick was given.

The London club travelled to Germany seeking the golden ticket after drawing 2-2 in the first leg last week at the Emirates and were hoping to bounce back from the disappointing 2-0 defeat by Aston Villa on Sunday, which dealt their Premier League title hopes a significant blow.
They were greeted by a pulsating atmosphere in Munich, with flares, flags, and drums fuelling an imposing energy from the home fans.
Arsenal fans had also enjoyed themselves pre-match as they were seen singing and drinking in the city in the hours leading up to kick-off.
Bukayo Saka and Odegaard were named in the starting line-up for in welcome news for Arsenal fans.
The star pair were potential injury doubts after Saka limped around during the 2-0 defeat by Aston Villa while Odegaard had to come off.
Takehiro Tomiyasu was also given the nod at left-back ahead of Jakub Kiwior and Oleksandr Zinchenko.
Jorginho came back into the midfield after being benched for Sunday's game while Gabriel Martinelli is on the left wing.

Bayern Munich have a history of handing out heavy defeats to Arsenal in Europe but it was closer this time
Bukayo Saka and Martin Odegaard both started the game despite their fitness concerns

Martin Keown said Arsenal were not able to deliver when it matters most after the defeat
Arsenal started the game strongly enough, with Gabriel Martinelli curling a shot wide and also missing a critical close-range chance.
They had three shots on target to Bayern's one in the first half and looked in a strong position to kick on in the second half.
However, Bayern improved after the break and Kimmich's goal made the difference.
Substitute Gabriel Jesus found himself clean through on goal with 10 minutes to go but ran the ball wide and ended up blasting his shot into the stands.
Odegaard was incensed in the closing minutes when he forced a save from Manuel Neuer, but a goal kick was given despite a save being clearly made.
Arsenal have made huge strides forward under Arteta, who used to play for the club.
They finished second in the Premier League last season and are currently placed there this campaign. The club has never won the Champions League and if Arteta were to lead them to such glory, he would be immortalised.
Bayern boss Thomas Tuchel has reached the semi-finals with a third team, having previously done so with Paris St-Germain and Chelsea.
The only manager to do so with more than three sides is Jose Mourinho with Porto, Chelsea, Inter Milan and Real Madrid.
